Life not only builds character, but it reveals it. My coaching philosophy, whether in athletics coaching, career coaching, or life coaching, is rooted in character, passion, and purpose. I firmly believe that who you are is always bigger than what you do, what position you play, or what your title says.
Whether I'm working with athletes or professionals, the foundation remains the same: people first. A scoreboard, a promotion, a championship, or a job offer matters, but they are never the whole story. The best coaches I've admired and aspire to be understand that the real work happens in the person, not just the performance.
I'll be honest. I've taken more than a few notes from Ted Lasso—not for the soccer tactics, but for the philosophy. Ted focuses more on the people in front of him than on the scoreboard. He values curiosity over judgment, sees people for who they can become rather than who they’ve been, and embraces the radical idea that kindness and high expectations go hand in hand. That’s the kind of coaching I believe in across all areas, from athletics coaching to life coaching.
In sports, that means creating an environment that is competitive, energized, and organized—where athletes are free to express their personality within the structure of the team. In my career coaching and life coaching, I help individuals peel back the noise of hustle culture and reconnect with their true selves, including their strengths, values, and the passions that light them up. We then work on building a life and career that reflects who they are, not the other way around.
This journey should feel meaningful and, yes, even fun. Not every moment will be comfortable, and real growth rarely is, but if the process feels completely joyless or disconnected from who you are, something needs to change.
Expectations are high, but they're rooted in reality. Everyone I work with is treated with respect, fairness, and genuine compassion. However, not everyone is treated the same because we are all unique individuals with different histories, strengths, and blind spots. That isn’t a challenge to fix, but rather the beauty of being human—and it’s exactly where the best coaching begins.
You don’t need to be fixed. You just need someone in your corner who sees your potential, even when you don’t.

Davis Wells serves in many different roles, including as a musician, podcast host, broadcaster, and career coach focused on helping people navigate identity, calling, and meaningful work. You may know him as BW, Brandon, Wellsy, or BDavis, but he certainly prefers Davis at this point.
After years in higher education and nonprofit leadership, Davis has been actively involved in career coaching, assisting students and professionals with their career and life decisions, alongside his work in athletics coaching. Now living in Wilmington, North Carolina, he is building a creative, purpose-driven life centered on podcasting, music, storytelling, and coaching.
He is the host of the Caller ID Podcast, where he sits down with guests from diverse backgrounds to explore the unexpected paths, pivotal moments, and lessons that shape who we become. Through honest life coaching conversations, he invites listeners to reflect more deeply on their own stories, choices, and sense of purpose.
As a musician and songwriter, Davis writes and records original music that blends storytelling, reflection, and hope. His songs explore themes of doubt, resilience, faith, loss, and renewal — grounded in both personal experience and the universal search for meaning.
Davis lives in Wilmington with his wife, Sarah, sons Elvis and Henry, daughter Lydia (living in Ohio), and two “crazy” dogs. Through his work in coaching, music, and conversation, he is driven by one core idea: helping people live with greater clarity, courage, and intention — especially in seasons of transition.
